With the day-to-day operations focusing on youth development, the team at Derrick Brooks Charity needed to find new ways to connect with kids, the community and sponsors. With a non-responsive website and little focus on social media engagement, the organization was missing out on key opportunities to engage its stakeholders in the overall impact DB55 was having on the community.

The team at CCS Marketing worked with the team at Derrick Brooks Charities to build a new responsive website that simplified brand messaging and created a unified platform to host all of its programs. Included in this process was custom video content for the website, e-commerce, updated blog content and social media integration.
When we met with Derrick Brooks and his team, it was clear to us that the professionalism and care they brought to their work wasn’t reflected in the broken links, poor quality photos, and repetitive text. We cleaned up the site’s broken aspects and shifted the focus to telling their story in a way that will leave a legacy and make it easier for others to find and follow.
Content Writing & Video Production
The charity knew their real story and messaging wasn’t getting across to their viewers. While Derrick Brooks is a dynamic figure, he wanted to push others to the front to start carrying the torch, and to emphasize the work they do, not his celebrity stature. Through rewriting the copy and creating a “Why” video, we shifted the site’s focus toward the legacy of Derrick Brooks Charities.
Ongoing Strategy Consulting
We meet with the Derrick Brooks Charities team on an ongoing basis to consult with them on how to best promote their events and fundraisers, both in-person and online. We’ve helped them activate more consistent communication to their community via their social media platforms and e-newsletters. This has resulted in much higher online engagement with their supporters and partners.
With a new platform, the charity saw a significant increase in online donations in 2020, an 700% increase in online sales as well a 4000% increase in social media engagement from 2019-2020, as well as their most successful charity auction ever, despite it being 100% online due to Covid-19.
